What is the difference between CMU block and poured concrete?

CMU (concrete masonry unit) blocks are precast concrete blocks laid and mortared by masons. Poured concrete is formed and cast in place. Both have excellent strength. Block is more common for foundations and walls in NYC residential construction; poured concrete is often used for slabs, driveways, and large commercial footings. We work with both.

Can you repair a cracked block foundation wall?
